Buttons & Hearts

Remember this? A fabulous tutorial from Rashida of iHeartLinen comes in very handy..
I've started a new project for a friend, Cherie..
In the middle of the night  I was inspired to create these hearts...
I tried two options, gluing the hearts or sewing them one by one..
Clearly the later is the better option though a little more tedious..but less messy at all...
I guess everything's trial and error right. You won't learn till you try it..

TRIAL 1:
Gluing in process..sigh..so messy and not too happy with the outcome..
 TRIAL 2:
Sewing each button one by one..

I really enjoy making them that i decided to make another one :)
A close up of my heart :)

I have decided to use the hearts as a finishing embellishment on my little coin purse..

My Loyal Janome..

A Close up of my fabric choices
Thanks Rashida from iHeartLinen for inspiring me to make the purse..
Again using blanket stitch to secure the Heart to the coin purse..

The inside Cherry lining :)

All pack up to go to a beautiful home ;)

I hope you'll like this..

A little Love is coming your way soon..

My Sunday Afternoon

I was supposed to make many things purses, buntings and the list goes on...but I got side tracked!!
I just realise that I have not made my very own sewing essential, THE PINCUSHION.
Hence, I decided that...
Today's quick project will be making Pincushion..
Thanks to My First Sewing book by Cico Kids, I found the style of pincushion that I adore.
Thank God for Libraries :)
I love this book :) Very easy to follow and understand. Although, it's meant for kids, it doesn't mean we can't use it..Well, there's an inner child in every one of us... For this mini project, I decided to utilise the scraps that I have just sorted out earlier on..and fabric gifts from my close friends..
Colourful instructions are always welcomed :)
I have chosen flowers and polka dots. Always a favourite. Fabrics are from my scrap boxes and some are from Laura and Chrissie :) Thanks my lovelies..

I backstitch all the pieces together by hand.. A little tedious but was a peaceful process while
watching videos online..Honestly, I was a little lazy to set up the sewing machine..

Final touches with a little yoyo and a button that I made :)
Close up of my flowery pin cushion..

Finally I can focus on creating more projects..
Yaay!!

Lots of Love,

me Ninot

Not alone...

Fabrics, Fat Quarters & Scrap Boxes

I found an easy way to store my fabrics..cheap and easy to do.. You just require used cardboard boxes and scrap paper or old magazines in my case..Previously, i stod everything in bags and often it's a pain trying to sort through them all. It feels like a game of hide and seek..

With the boxes, at least I could see them, the fabrics. It gives so much joy just looking at them.just cover the boring old cardboards with pages from the magazine. i just choose whatever paper that appeal to me and armed with scissors and double sided tape.....the results....

I have finished the boxes and now the sorting begin. Will update soon..

From Yum Cha to Outskirts @ 25.11.2011

This is a story of a beautiful day filled with exciting & inspiring findings :)

A beautiful Sunday morning for a yummy Yum Cha brunch with the Family at Northbridge
on the corner of Francis Street & William Street.
I was captivated by the beautiful ornaments in the restaurant.
Just like little bubbles :)
The beautiful bubble ornaments of the Yum Cha place..
This was followed by  unexpected visit to  OUTSKIRTS at Northbridge
filled with pop-up stalls & unique findings..
Yes, you will need the Passport as a guide..
One of my new found favourite pop-up stores:
Click here --> Lovers & Dreamers :) They have one the most amazing shop presentation I must say..Simple yet eye-catchy..
I love their craft.. Got mom a wallet (as shown in the picture on their site) and their knitted headbands :)
Love the headbands so much - wearing them to the picnic & ballet classes.. I now have the purple and the white ones as well..yay!!

The day continued on with more inspiring findings....

Found this little sewing workshop at a courtyard and a beautiful girl playing the ukelele.
It's the
